The assessment is conducted with Diagnostic Statistical Manuel (DSM-5)-correspondent self-report measurements that are widely used in the mental health profession. Climbing:
Each 50-minute session is $175 + Gym Fees
Each 90-minute session is $300+ Gym Fees
Rock climbing is a uniquely engaging opportunity to build safety, trust, intimacy, esteem, and control. I have found that sharing this passion with clients, often in addition to our regular sessions, can be a very natural way to connect and focus on intention setting, authentically building rapport, and somatic practices. Additionally, you will learn some introductory-level skills that may even inspire a new passion!
For those processing trauma, climbing can be a particularly healing experience, as it will very naturally engage the nervous system when the climber reaches a "crux" challenge area. When a climber of any skill level reaches the crux of their climb, the nervous system activates with either a sympathetic (fight-or-flight) or parasympathetic (freeze) response. Our work together will simply be to notice as this is happening and use "grounding" techniques (breathing, sensation, or movement) to slow things down and focus on the mind-body connection during the climb. In trauma work, we call this achievement "state change" -when we are easily able to recognize and transition from a state of feeling dysregulated (in fight/fight or freeze) to regulated and present.
Rather than introducing a therapeutic concept and encouraging the use of these skills, as providers often do in talk therapy, through climbing we can experience them together in a safe and controlled environment. This focus on being more present in the body is called "Somatic" therapy. And there are a wide variety of therapeutic concepts we may explore together through our session. If you are interested in scheduling, please reach out! I am passionate about processing and climbing! And I deeply appreciate the opportunity to blend these two practices into an engaging experience with clients.

Coaching:
Each 50-minute individual session is $175
Each 90-minute individual session is $300
Coaching is different than therapy in that it can be faciliated anywhere in the world! It is typically used for less acute issues and ideal for clients who do not need traditional treatment planning, but who would still like mentorship from a professional with lived experience working and living in recovery. Our work in coaching is entirely goal-oriented, future focused, and more flexible in opportunity. In other words, we will use less traditional processing and more solution-focused approaches.
In therapy we are focused on treating symptoms of a problem and my approach is driven by extensive clinical training. Unlike therapy, in coaching I may use self disclosure to draw from personal experiences, provide specific advise/opinions, or participate in activities that may have no therapeutic relevance but are simply fun and supporting of your goals development! Our focus will be on your goals as well as the activities we do together -without diving too deep into the past or treating symptoms of a clinical diagnosis as we would in therapy.
Coaching is ultimately very flexible and can be conducted virtually from anywhere in the world! It can also include a variety of activites and areas of focus depending on your interests. I have extensive lived experience building resilience in my own recovery process and am an experienced adventure guide, artist, and academic. I draw on these passions for relatable coaching that can support your ambitions, growth, and development.
We may also negotiate a rate for special activites that require a more extended period of time. Please contact me with further inquiries.
